The concept of clinical governance is a system to ensure continuous quality improvement in the provision of services. The elements may be found in legal or professional regulatory requirements, or in voluntary quality systems.
The WPC has collated a report based on survey responses from nine countries: Australia, Canada, Denmark, Ireland, New Zealand, Portugal, Spain, South Africa, UK and USA. There are many differences among the member organisations’ countries, in the source of obligations to ensure high standards of professional practice, but there is a common core of professional and legal obligations to maintain high standards of practice. The summary report is confidential to WPC members and is in the protected section of the member website.
